Welcome to BalanceCare4Kids
We are a pediatric vestibular research team affiliated with Ghent University, operating within the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences and closely connected to the ENT department of Ghent University Hospital. With over 20 years of experience, our group is dedicated to improving the identification, diagnosis, and rehabilitation of children at risk of, or living with, vestibular deficits.
Our research focuses on optimizing the entire care pathway—from early detection to personalized rehabilitation strategies—by combining scientific insight with clinical expertise. We are a multidisciplinary team of ENT specialists, audiologists, physical therapists, clinicians, and researchers working in close collaboration across academic and clinical settings.
Internationally, our group is best known for coordinating VIS Flanders, the world’s first vestibular newborn screening program, which has positioned Flanders as a pioneer in early vestibular health monitoring. Through this and other innovative projects, we aim to set new standards in pediatric vestibular care, inform clinical guidelines, and ensure that affected children receive timely and tailored support.
